Paris Chic
I created this mood board for an Interior Design Institute class project. I recently had the opportunity to refresh the decor in my primary bedroom, influenced by the color palette and feminine mood of the Paris Chic motif. For a small amount of outlay—about $200 total for new linens and a bouquet of tulips—I was able to capture the elegant, but lighthearted feel. Notice the whimsical flamingo trim on the sheets!
She’s stylish and feminine; she’s kind and intelligent. She’s living in the stratosphere but has her feet on the ground.
High heels, check. Laptop, check. Flowers for elderly neighbor, check. Snappy comeback for nosey doorman, check.
Walk into her apartment, and time stands still. Did Audrey Hepburn just walk by?
It’s rooted in tradition, but oh-so-chic. Fresh and fun but anchored in elegance.

This urban apartment is bright and inviting; disciplined, but just a little fun. The elegant fabrics and furniture are enlivened by bright colors and a touch of whimsy in the art and accessories.
Stylistic elements used to achieve the mood include:
• Layout: Open and bright with well-defined, structured spaces
• Colors: Neutral color palette with bright pops of color through accessories, fabrics, and artwork—and lots of fresh flowers
• Patterns: Subtle stripes and nature-inspired patterns in accent colors (see palette above)
• Lighting: Innovative, modern lighting mixed with at least one large elegant, traditional chandelier
• Balance: Disciplined use of symmetry with asymmetrical exceptions to inspire interest and a sense of movement
• Harmony: Consistent use of elegant, traditional styles with additions of innovative or modern elements
